Web Development Teaching Position at General Assembly

General Assembly is hiring 2-3 full-stack web developers to join the instructional team for its 12-week Web Development Immersive program. These are full time, contract positions. Front end and back end development experience is required, as is a love of teaching. Proficiency in Angular and Rails a plus.

The position begins early November in Santa Monica.

Skills and Qualifications

You are eager to shape the skills, minds, and trajectories of the newest generation of web developers.
You are the person that your colleagues naturally gravitate to when they are trying to figure something out.
You have at least 1+ years of professional development experience.
You have fluency in the following topics: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, for example), algorithms, and performance techniques.
You have previous web development or engineering teaching experience, through a course, team training, etc.

Responsibilities and Duties

Teach and plan a full work week, five days a week, for 14 weeks
Work closely with two – three co-instructors to provide students with meaningful and prompt feedback on their progress.
Work alongside GA staff and teaching team to best meet the needs and learning styles of your students.
Guide students through development of a stellar final project that will showcase their abilities to hiring managers.
Facilitate a dynamic and collaborative classroom community.
Inspire students to persevere through the challenges of turning their ideas into actual web application.
